Name Above All Names

“Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:  that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and and things in earth, and things under the earth; and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”  Philippians 2:9,10,11

Suggested reading – Philippians 2:1-11.

The most important name that can ever be uttered is the blessed name of Jesus. God has highly exalted him and given him a name “Jesus” that is above all other names.

Think of why his name is above all names.

  1. Because God loves every human being and gave His Son as a gift to the whole world.  John 3:16
  2. Because Jesus became the perfect sacrifice for our sins, humbled Himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. Philippians 2:8
  3. Because there is salvation in no other name.  Acts 4:12
  4. Because after we receive Jesus and salvation by faith, he promises power from above to live for Him.  Acts 4:32

It is such a privilege to be saved, live for Him, and strive to honor His name that is above all names.

Stay on the Path of Blessings

“I have taught thee in the way of wisdom; I have led thee in right paths. When thou goest, thy steps shall not be straitened; and when thou runnest, thou shalt not stumble.” Proverbs 4:11,12

Suggested reading – Proverbs 4:11-16

The Lord always leads us in the right paths and does not desire to see us stumble or fall. But sometimes we may take a wrong turn and sadly end up on the dangerous evil path that can cause us to fall and even ruin a person’s life. The Lord tells us in verse 11, “I have taught thee in the way of wisdom;” He teaches us in this passage how to avoid the pitfalls of Satan and stay on the right path.

The following four things in this passage that will keep us off the wrong path.

  1. Live by His wisdom and not our thinking or planning. Vs. 11
  2. Take firm hold of instruction from God’s word. Vs. 15
  3. Stay away from the evil path and evil people that can cause one to fail and fall. Vs. 14
  4. Go out of your way to avoid that evil path, not pass by it, turn away and pass away.

Let us keep our eyes on Christ and stay on God’s path where all His blessings are.
