What the Cross of Christ Represents

“But God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ , by whom the world is crucified unto me, and I unto the world.” Galatians 6:14

The unsaved world often times despises the cross on which Jesus Christ gave His life for all to believe on His name and come to a saving knowledge for the salvation of their soul. John 3:16. The world today even strives to take the cross out of any public place where people might see it. But the cross of Christ represents everything to a true believer who has been saved because of what happen on that cross.

Here is what the cross of Christ should represent to all Christians.

The Cross Represents A New Creation. “ For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision but a new creature.” Galatians 6:15. When a person gets saved by the grace of God they are not made perfect, but their heart and life does change all because of His grace. “ Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new,” II Corinthians 5:17.

The new creature in Christ now has a New Heart. “ And I will give them one heart.” Ezekiel 11:19. The Christians heart now is in tune with the heart of God and the desires for the things of the world changes to desiring God’s will.

The new creature in Christ now has a New Spirit. “ And I will put a new spirit within them.” Ezekiel 11:19. The Lord not only changes a person’s heart, but He also gives them a new attitude. Everyone struggles with having a good attitude, but if you ask the Lord to help you to have a right spirit, He will answer your prayer. Psalm 51:10.

The new creature in Christ now has a New Mind. “ Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 2:5. The way to have the mind of Christ is by reading and meditating on the Word of God, so we can shun the worlds influence and think like Jesus does. Philippians 4:8.

The Cross Represents A New Challenge. Ephesians 2: 1-7. Once we are saved it is quit a challenge to get up everyday and serve the Lord from our heart, but the Lord provides for us all we need to serve Him successfully. He gives us joy in our heart at salvation, (John 15 :11), we have the Holy Spirit inside us to lead, guide and help us everyday (John 14:26 ) and finally we have access to the power of God that provides us victory. Acts 4:29.

The Cross Represents A New Communion. I John 1: 1-7. When Jesus is our Savior, we not only have a home in heaven, but we also can have a personal relationship with Him on a consistent basis. Because of the blood sacrifice of Jesus ( Hebrews 10: 12-17) we have a personal fellowship with the Lord. Ephesians 2:13. We have peace from Jesus Himself. Ephesians 2:14. We have access to the Father, bringing all of our petitions to Him. Ephesians 2:18. And finally, when we sin we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous. I John 2:1. To the Christian the Cross of Christ is everything. “For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.” I Corinthians 1:18.
